Big Boy Super Combo. Growing up, we had Big Boy in our home town, then it became Shoney’s And rapidly went downhill. This was an excellent burger. The waffle belongs to Mrs. Ttyymmnn. I’m not that much of a glutton. However, hot fudge cake is on sale for 70¢....

Wow, that’s the kind of thing we get to share.

I think the one in Fresno shut down at least 2 decades ago. Too bad. The food was good.

We ate there the night after Luftgekuhlt 4 a couple of years ago and found the pics on my phone. Had the big fried chicken dinner and a milkshake , it was great! Yes, I could never eat at a Shoney’s again.

I remember Big Boy from when I was kid. We didn’t have any nearby, so it was a treat for when we traveled, much like what you’re getting right now!

In my part of the country we had “Shoney’s Big Boy”. Later they dropped the association with Big Boy and I was so disappointed as the Big Boy burger went away when that happened.
As a kid, I’d always pick up a copy of the Big Boy comic on my way out of the restaurant. From reading that I became aware that in different parts of the country, Big Boy had different names such as “Bob’s” in California.

Many moons ago there was a Bob’s Big Boy here in Rockville, MD. I think it closed and/or maybe turned into a Shoney’s in the late 80s or early 90s. My dad used to like taking me there because his name is Bob.

TIL Bob’s Big Boy still exists. Had one in town growing up too. In May of senior year of high school some kids in my class cut off the fiberglass Big Boy statue’s head with a hacksaw and chunked it in the woods a mile away one night as a prank. Town cops with nothing better to do were pissed and got the school to threaten holding our diplomas until the head was returned. It did come back (nobody ever owned up to being the one that retrieved it) and the owners patched it back up with fiberglass tape. They repainted but you could still see it if you looked for the few years until the Big Boy closed like all of them anywhere near me slowly did in the mid ‘00’s.

We have Frisch’s Big Boy here in Ohio and it’s a guilty pleasure of mine. A super Big Boy with extra tartar sauce and a cherry coke!! YUM! Also: their coconut cream pies are great.
